Dorothy Mae Shrum of Sheridan passed away on December 28th, at the Greenhouse Living of Sheridan at the age of 95. Dede, as she was known to her friends, was born in Seymour Illinois, and moved with her family to Kansas City, Missouri, as a young girl. She met and married Howard Shrum, from Lusk, Wyoming when he was training there as a pilot in the Army Air Corps. After the war, they moved to Sheridan, where Howard continued to fly as a corporate pilot of the Brennan Cattle Company until they bought a ranch on Pass Creek, Montana, and ranched until 1968, when they returned to Sheridan.

Dede was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, and is survived in life by her two sons, Howard and Kenneth Shrum, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Dede was an accomplished artist, and worked at Vacationland Studio for over 40 years in their photography department. She played the violin, was an avid tennis player and enjoyed exercise classes at the YMCA until she was 90 years old. She loved flower gardening and was renowned for her cooking and baking expertise. Dede was a devout Christian, and a very important part of her life was being a member of the Presbyterian Church of Sheridan for over 70 years, serving on church committees and doing charity work with congregation members.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 4th, at 11:00 am at the Presbyterian Church, with a luncheon reception held directly afterward. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to the Presbyterian Ministries Fund at the Presbyterian Church, 2121 Colonial Drive, Sheridan, WY 82801.
