Warren N. Pearce, 95, of Sheridan, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 7, 2017. Warren will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was one of four children born to Verrie W. and Eda H. (Nelson) Pearce on February 26, 1922 in Bellingham, WA.
He served in the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron in 1945 during WWII in the Army Air Corps. After the war, Warren completed his bachelor’s degree in mining engineering from Washington State College in June of 1947.
Warren met and married Mary Rauzi on November 15, 1948 at Holy Name Church in Sheridan, WY. He worked as Party Chief on a seismic crew in Buffalo. After working in oil exploration for 36 years and moving 27 times, both he and Mary retired in September of 1984 and purchased a ranch on Wolf Creek in Ranchester, Wyoming. They both enjoyed 33 years on the ranch. Warren was also a member of the Dayton/Ranchester Rotary and retired in 2016.
He is survived by Mary, his wife of over 67 years; two children, Doug (Helen) Pearce near Powell, WY and Steve (Mary) Pearce of Ranchester, WY; grandsons, Patrick (Dana) Pearce of Ranchester, WY and Scott Pearce of Sheridan, WY; and two great grandchildren, Kayce and Hayden Pearce of Ranchester, WY.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2017 at Champion Funeral Home with Fr. Robert Rodgers officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sheridan Senior Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801. Online condolences may be written at www.championfh.com.
