The Johnson County Skijoring event at the fairgrounds isn’t the only winter sporting event that is planned for this weekend.
The first annual Ice Fishing Derby will be held at Lake DeSmet and is being sponsored by the Rotary Club of Sheridan.
A grand prize of $25,000 will catch angler’s attention as there will be 200 tagged fish being released prior to tomorrow’s event.
There will be three prize winners for the longest fish in four categories… Trout, Kokanee Salmon, Walleye, and Perch.
Funds raised during the event will support a variety of community service projects through Rotary.
Tickets are priced at $50 and can be purchased at Rocky Mountain Discounts in Sheridan or on the day of the derby.
