Robert Scott Ludwig was born on February 7, 1944 in Laramie, Wyoming to Richard and Ila Ludwig.  He grew up and went to school in Laramie and attended Laramie High School where he served as Student Body President and graduated with the class of 1962.  After high school he attended the University of Wyoming where he was in the Sigma Nu Fraternity and received a Bachelor of Science in Business from the College of Commerce and Industry in 1969.  During his college years the Kappa’s invited the Sigma Nu Fraternity over for dinner where he met Janet Newton. A relationship soon developed, followed by a marriage nine months later, blossoming into a beautiful marriage of 51 years.

In 1967, their first child, Michelle, was born. Two more children, “Rusty” and Ryan, followed. Subsequently, the family moved to Story, Wyoming. In 1985, the family suffered the devastating loss of their daughter, Michelle. Several years later, the family was blessed with the arrival of two more children, Reilly and Ryce.  In 1977 they moved to Story and Scott worked for Equitable Life and Financial Services where he worked until his death.  Scott received numerous awards with Equitable and received advanced certification as a Charter Life Underwriter in 1982 and also ChFC certification.  Mrs. Ludwig passed away in November of 2016 and Scott continued living in Story.

Scott was passionate about being involved with his community.  He was past president of the Sheridan Rotary Club; past president of the Sheridan College Board; past assistant vice president of the High Plains Motocross Association and past president of the Sheridan Hospital Board and their foundation. Scott was a dedicated and wonderful father, grandfather, husband and friend who was very involved in family activities and bettered the lives of all he met.  He was a friend to everyone and enjoyed spending time with his family, spending time in the mountains and working in his garage. He will leave a hole in the Sheridan and Story communities that cannot be filled.
