Lenar Melvin Tippie passed away peacefully in Sheridan, Wyoming, on July 26th, 2017.  Lenar ‘Tip’ was born in Tacoma, Washington on August 3, 1932.  He was the son of Melvin & Helen Tippie and was the brother to his younger brother Dennis.

 

‘Tip’ graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma where he met Joyce his wife of 63 years.  Tip was a very skilled craftsman.  He made countless creative birdhouses and various pop can airplanes. He loved to fish and travel the United States.  Tip and Joyce traveled almost every road in the country.

 

Tip did volunteer work throughout his life.  He spent many hours volunteering at what was then called the Yellowstone Boys Ranch, Billings, Montana, in the early 1970’s.  In recent years Tip and Joyce volunteered at a food bank in Mesa, Arizona where they wintered. In Sheridan, Tip volunteered at the Food Bank and the VA Hospital.

 

Tip’s greatest joy was his family and friends: wife, Joyce; children Robert (Denys) Tippie, Sheridan, WY; Richard Lee Tippie, Kent, WA; grandchildren, Erik (Leah) Nordenstam; Britt (Robert) Rohde; Leif (Sinta) Nordenstam; and great grandchildren, Bradin Rohde, Ethan Rohde, Zachery Rohde, Marin Nordenstam, Logan Nordenstam, Beila Nordenstam, Ava Nordenstam, and brother-in-law Gary (Justine) Ostlund, Pinehurst, NC.  Tip was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; his brother, Dennis; and his parents.
