Leah K. Shaw, 70, of Sheridan, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the family ranch near Decker, MT. She was born on September 30, 1947, in Sheridan, WY, to parents Harvey A. and Fra Dooley Porter. She was raised in Decker, MT and attended K – 8th grade at the Pine Butte School. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1965, and attended Eastern Montana College for a while before going to work for Mountain Bell. After Mountain Bell closed it’s doors she went to work for MDU until she retired after 28 years.
Leah married Virgil “Artie” Shaw on March 19, 1969, in Sheridan, WY. Her greatest joy was attending her grandson’s sport events from the time they started playing. She would also garden, with the grandson’s and deer usually reaping the profits! She enjoyed keeping Artie’s rose garden going year after year. She loved plowing at the ranch with her dad, usually with the old plow because the new one her dad had. She enjoyed talking about the weather and going to Deadwood.
Leah was always there for her family whether it involved chauffeuring the grandsons or babysitting our pets.
Leah was baptized April 5, 1981, in the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Decker Homemakers, serving under all aspects. She enjoyed meeting once a month with the ladies of the Birthday Club.
Leah was preceded in death by her father, Harvey and her husband, Artie. She is survived by her mother, Fra, son, Dustin (Tiffany) Shaw, her grandsons, Dylan and Wyatt and “sister” Peggy Anderson.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Sheridan Elks Memorial Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Elks Lodge.
