Harvey (Doc) Glenn Neal, 79, of Wyola, MT died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. A private graveside service was held in the Dayton Cemetery. Doc was born July 3, 1937 in Anson, Texas to Clifford and Minnie Neal.
Harvey graduated from Brownwood High School (Brownwood, Texas). He attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville then went on to Howard Payne University in Brownwood where he graduated with a degree in Education. He was an outstanding football player in both high school and college. He taught school in Brownwood and Freona and went on to operate a large cow/calf operation in Marlin,Texas. Throughout his life, he was always a cowboy at heart, rodeoing as a young man and working at multiple cattle operations over the years. Doc doctored animals though out his career, that’s how he received his nickname Doc. He bred race horses and raced them in Miles City, MT. Doc was a great cook and loved to be with family and friends.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents Clifford C. Neal and Minnie Ann (Proffitt) Neal of Brownwood, Texas and his sister Wanda Jewel Neal Beck of Lake Jackson, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Neal of Wyola, MT; his 2 brothers in Texas, Garland Reeves Neal of Temple and Danny Joe Neal of Odessa; his 4 children in Texas, Glenn Neal of San Angelo, Joy Box of San Antonio, Greg Neal of San Angelo and Jill Shearer of Austin; his 4 step children Thea (John) Szymaniak of Wyola, MT, Charlotte (Royce) Cornell of Dayton, WY, Sharon (Bill) Shinkle of Victor, Idaho and Lon (Paula) Hovey of Ranchester, WY; and his precious grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
