Funeral services for Deanie Witty, 77 year old Buffalo resident, who passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, Funeral services will be held Saturday November 26th at 10:00 a.m. in the Community Building at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. A private family interment will be held later.
Haroldeen Bernice Witty was born on December 27, 1938 in Kalispell, Montana to Harold and Maurine Leighty. She grew up and went to school in Whitefish, Montana and graduated from Whitefish High School with the class of 1956. After high school she worked as a personal assistant in an insurance office. She was married on May 3, 1957 to Dale Witty and they made their home in Columbia Falls, Montana on a small farm. Deanie delivered papers, waited tables, drove a gravel truck and was instrumental in running the family hog farm until 1975. In 1979 they moved to Trego, Montana where she was a homemaker. In 1983 they moved to Sheridan, Wyoming where she was manager of the Sheridan Holiday Inn Banquet Department and was a teacher at the Red Grade Christian Academy. In 1995 they moved to Buffalo and Deanie worked at Colonel Bozemans, Pistol Pete’s and helped her son Mike run Little Mike’s small engine shop. Dale passed away in July of 2008 and she continued living in Buffalo until her death.
Deanie was an avid bowler, a member and prominent 4-H leader for many years, she judged the State Speech Meet at the Buffalo High School for several years but her passion was spending time with family and friends. Deanie never knew a stranger.
She is survived by two sons, Mike and Monte Witty both of Buffalo; three daughters Susan Schmidt of Whitefish, Montana, LeAnn Wood and her husband Stephen of Oakley, California and Carmen Christian and her husband John of Clearmont, Wyoming; two brothers, Duane Johnson and his wife Diana and Allen Johnson and his wife Sue, all of Whitefish, Montana; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son-in-law George Schmidt.
