Carol Metcalf, 70, of Story, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at her residence surrounded by family. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Holy Name Church with Father Glen Whewell officiating. A reception will follow at the Story Woman’s Club in Story, WY. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
She was born on December 7, 1946, in Casper, Wyoming, to Lawrence (Fuzz) and Virginia (Rinker) Forsberg. She married Richard Metcalf on April 30, 1966. Carol cherished her family and her home, and enjoyed the comradery of all of her friends.
She made a lifetime commitment of building the community of Story through her volunteer efforts including The Story Park Board, Story Fire Department, Story Woman’s Club, Red Hats, Story Garden Club, Sheridan County Homemakers, The Story Sorority, and member of Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandson Ethan. She is survived by her mother-in-law Bobbi Metcalf of Sheridan; children, Richard L (Lana) Metcalf of Soldotna, AK, Ryan (Maureen) Metcalf of Sheridan, WY, Racine (Chad) Lydic of Sheridan, WY; grandchildren, Ashley(Preston), Makayla, Ryan, Bechler, Hudson, Tory (Mackenzie), Mason, and great grandson Bridger.
Memorials may be made to c/o First Interstate Bank, attn: Jenny Epperson, 4 S. Main Street, Sheridan, WY 82801 to be put toward a memorial bench for Carol, or to the Story Woman’s Club, 28 N. Piney Road, Story, WY 82842.
