Betty J. Olson, 92, of Sheridan, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the Westview Health Care Center. She was born on October 8, 1926, in Detroit, MI, to parents Hilary and Bessie Sadler. She graduated on September 4, 1947, from Grace Hospital of Nursing in Detroit. She worked at the VA Hospital in McKinney, TX, and Sheridan, WY. She worked at Sheridan County Memorial Hospital as an RN from 1953-1981. She was a member of the Army Corps of Nursing. Betty worked as an OB nurse for many years as she loved helping bring “those sweet babies” into the world. Her final delivery before retiring was her Granddaughter Stephanie.
Betty married Charles A. Olson on February 19, 1950. They had three children; Stephen Robert (Karen) Olson, John Albert (Mikealena) Olson and Kathy Lynn Flack.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Hilary and Bessie Sadler, brother Hilary Sadler, and husband Charles A. Olson.
She is survived by her children Steve (Karen) Olson, John (Mikealena) Olson, and Kathy Flack, six grandchildren Ryan (Armi-Claire) Olson, Brad (Cheryl) Olson, Renee (Dan) Ealey, Sean (Rebekah) Olson, Coulter Olson and Stephanie Koltiska (Tim Vine) and 7 great grandchildren Emma, Nolan, Teagan, Olivia, Jasmine, Gavin and Charli.
A Memorial Service will be held for Betty on Friday, May 24, 2019, at 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with Father RJ Johnson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Columbarium at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. A reception will follow immediately after in the Parish Hall.
