Anne D. Aksamit, 105, of Sheridan, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Sheridan Manor. She was born October 14, 1912 in Fernie, B.C., Canada to Paul and Anna (Bazgier) Wallach and became a U.S. citizen in 1925 through her father.
She moved to Kooi, Wyoming at the age of four where she attended school and was a 1930 graduate of Sheridan High School.
Anne married Otis Spicer in 1932, and later married M/Sgt. L. E. Aksamit. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Court House in Sheridan for the Department of Agriculture from 1936 to 1946. Anne was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. Anne celebrated her 100th birthday October 14, 2012 and wished to thank everyone for being a part of her special day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Anna Wallach; a son, Robert Spicer; grandson, Rudy Spicer; brother, Paul Wallach; and sister, Anne Banas Kilgore.
Anne is survived by her grandson, Bill (Tracy) Spicer of Moses Lake, Washington; their two children, Aaron and Brittinie of Moses Lake, WA; two great grandchildren, Cody Joe and Shandi Spicer of Moses Lake, WA; two nieces, Toots (Bill) Taszut of Bozeman, Montana, and Shari (Dwight) Thompson of Sheridan, Wyoming; two cousins, Helena (Oldrich) Cieslarova of Cesky Tesin of the Czech Republic and Jana Dulava of Walnut Creek, CA; and all her dear friends.
A visitation take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Champion Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Champion Funeral Home with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. Interment will be held in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at Holy Name Catholic Church in the Parish Hall. Memorials in memory of Anne may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
