Dorothy Maggie Herring, 93, of Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at the Sheridan Manor from breast cancer. She was born July 21, 1924, in the bunkhouse of the family ranch on Prairie Dog Creek to Louise Symons Crook and Ivan Boyd Crook. She married Lloyd Herring December 8, 1945 in Hardin, MT.
Dorothy was a homemaker and worked at Louis’ Shoe Repair for many years and following Lloyd to various underground mines in Montana, Wyoming and Utah. Dorothy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, past member of the Big Horn Mountain Polka Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles 186. Dorothy enjoyed jigsaw, crossword and word find puzzles. She enjoyed getting mail from her nieces and nephews from near and far.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings, twin sister Carrie Workman and brothers Abe Crook and Pete Crook and nephews Rusty Workman and Duane Crook. She is survived by nieces Sandi (Kermit) Ziler, Billie (Rich) Kwallek, Diane (Jim) Archerd, Mary Lou (Pete) Oslund, Nancy McPhetridge and nephew David (Cathy) Workman as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in the Spring. Memorials may be made to the Sheridan Senior Center at 211 Smith Street, Sheridan, WY 82801.
