Given the cold temperature, a surprisingly large crowd gathered across the street from the Veterans’ Memorial at the corner of Fort and Main Street yesterday morning for the VFW’s Veterans’ Day ceremony.

Retired Major General Luke Reiner was the keynote speaker and spoke of the community’s efforts to bring the VA skilled nursing facility to Buffalo…

Reiner retired after 36 years of service in the US Army, and served for 8 years as the Commander of the Wyoming National Guard.

During the ceremony, the VFW honored veteran Gene Baylor for his service to his country and to the Buffalo community.

The event capped an entire week of events that recognized and honored local Armed Forces veterans in Buffalo and Johnson County.
