The Johnson County Ski-Jor Wars is set to run at 9am this Saturday at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.  Originally planned for downtown Buffalo, the skijoring event was moved to the fairgrounds due to a concern in January of a lack of snow.  That concern has now been laid to rest due to the recent increase in snowfall.

According to Claudia Todd, there appears to be plenty of interest from potential competitors in the event with skijoring being compared favorably to a rodeo circuit…

Those competing in the Ski-Jor Wars on Saturday will be placed in one or more of the seven divisions according to Anka Kottman…

The “race track” will be ready for the completion, according to Janny Breton…

Kottman, Todd, and Breton make up Buffalo Events LLC, who along with the Buffalo Lions Club is sponsoring the winter sporting event.

The event is free and attendees will be able to enjoy a number of food and beverage vendors and will be able to watch the competition from the grandstand as the skiers and their horseback riders race to the finish line.

An awards ceremony will take place at the Cowboy Saloon at 7pm on Saturday night with Championship buckles, bridles, and certificates provided to the top three finishers in each division.
