Once again, it seems the Johnson County School District is on the cutting edge of educational opportunities being offered to its students.

The district’s “Minibank” program has been in operation for about a year and a half for local students through First Interstate Bank, whose charter is out of Montana.

Recently, the Wyoming School Board Association voted to support the minibank for possible use statewide during its conference in November.

According to Superintendent Dr. Gerry Chase, the Wyoming Legislature would have to adopt a statute that would allow state chartered banks to offer the program in other schools…

The district’s minibank program started at Cloud Peak Elementary School and has since been offered at the Clear Creek Middle School.

Just short of 100 students are currently participating in the program.
