Buffalo’s Community Orchard is being planted today.

The Bread of Life Food Pantry’s Board of Directors have been the leading proponents of the orchard and worked for several months ring the past year to find a suitable location for a small orchard accessible by the entire community.

Kelly Norris is Director of the Bread of Life Food Pantry and spoke of the project earlier this spring…

The orchard will be located next to the Johnson County School District’s Administration building on Lott Street and the “youth” component mentioned by Norris will involve the Boys & Girls Club of the Bighorns.

Members of the club and other members of the community will participate first in a series of educational sites before assisting in the planting of the trees.

Members of the Town & Country Garden Club of Buffalo Board, Wyoming Hunger Initiative Board, and Johnson Co School District Board are expected to assist in the tree planting.

Governor Mark Gordon and First Lady Jenny Gordon will make an appearance and participate in a tree planting with kids from the Boys & Girls Club.

The Wyoming State Forestry, Tree Mechanics, Heartland Tree Care, and the Clear Creek Conservation Districts will also play a role in developing the orchard.
