In a school environment of budget cuts, Buffalo High School is continuing to find ways to meet the needs of its students whether it’s providing extra help for some students and offering extra opportunities for others.

Remediation and extension were the terms coined by Principal Chad Bourgeois while a guest on the KBBS Morning Show on Tuesday.

For three of the days each week, students have additional “advisory time” during the morning hours…

The remaining two days include what is termed “flex” time where students with decent grades will be allowed to excel in areas of personal interest.

According to Bourgeois, that same period of time will afford struggling students with the help they need…

The high school staff hopes the side benefit to the flex time is to foster a sense of responsibility that students will carry with them post-graduation.
