CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming Highway Patrol investigation found no criminal violations over an encounter between Wyoming Treasurer Curt Meier and human resources staff that left some workers feeling threatened.

A patrol investigation report says on March 21 Meier complained to the state’s Human Resources Division about not being able to keep his employees from leaving for better-compensated jobs in other state agencies.

The report says workers told investigators that Meier threatened physical violence against them, prompting a lockdown of the division.

In a statement released Tuesday, Meier denied making any threat, saying his conversations with human resources have been professional.

The report also noted a separate meeting between Meier and State Auditor Kristi Racines over the same issue.

Racines declined to comment although she says she has a good working relationship with Meier.
