A resident of the Volunteers of America facility in Campbell County is out thousands of dollars after falling victim to a phone scam last week. The resident, a 60-year-old man, called the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office to report he had paid an unidentified suspect $2,205 who claimed to be a law enforcement officer. According to the report, the man was told that he had warrants out for his arrest and to avoid jail time he needed to send money through Coinstar to cover his bond.
