Area residents in Buffalo will hear emergency sirens early in the afternoon on Thursday, causing fire, medical, and law enforcement personnel to converge on the high school for a “mock” emergency drill.

It will be a defining and emotional few minutes for nearly 200 high school freshmen from Buffalo and nearby communities as they witness a sobering enactment of the result of poor choices made under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

BHS Seniors Porter Wing and Kate Norman will take part in the third Freshman Impact and Wing believe it will have a significant impact on this year’s freshmen students…

The high school freshmen will take part in a number of “learning stations dealing with alcohol and drug use, suicides, firearms, and cyberbullying prior to witnessing the staged “accident” and the resulting court hearing.

Freshman Impact is a powerful one-day prevention program that demonstrates the consequences of poor choices and the lasting effects on a student’s person, families, friends, and even communities.
