One year ago, the Johnson County School District rolled out a “junior” kindergarten class at Meadowlark Elementary School.
Those 14 students are now enrolled in regular kindergarten classes this fall and it may be too early to gauge the impact of the extra year of school for those young children.
However, Principal Craig Kitto had this to say about those junior kindergarteners…
The assessment of their progress will continue to be monitored by the Meadowlark staff throughout the school year, but so far the results appear to be promising.
The current junior kindergarten class consists of 11 students with 12 considered the optimum number.
