Veterans Day isn’t until Monday but Buffalo and Johnson County isn’t waiting till then to honor its veterans.

The Buffalo High School students are welcoming area veterans to an assembly this morning and teacher Donna Compton told Big Horn Mountain Radio that the event is being held exclusively by the student body…

The high school band and choir will be performing along with the Occidental Bluegrass Band.

Lunch will be provided to those veterans and their families who are attending.

Tomorrow, the Buffalo Senior Center will be hosting a Cribbage Tournament on National Cribbage Day with veterans playing for free.

The entry fee for non-veterans is $10 with a 100% payout.

The tournament is scheduled for 9am tomorrow.

And of course, it is Poppy Day in Buffalo as proclaimed by Mayor Shane Schrader on Tuesday during the City Council meeting.

Poppy Day honors those who have sacrificed their lives in the service of their country.

The American Legion Auxillary will be handing out the poppies throughout the city on Friday.
