GILLETTE, WY— Wyoming ranks among the most dangerous states for driving during Memorial Day weekend.
U.S. government statistics show Wyoming averages 0.85 automobile crashes per 100,000 people over the last weekend in May. The Gillette News-Record reports the website ascurelife.com studied fatal crashes for every state from 2013-2017.
Wyoming ranks as the 10th most dangerous state for highway travelers during the holiday weekend. North Dakota, South Dakota and Idaho also rank in the top 10.
Nationwide, Memorial Day is the third-deadliest holiday for car travel after the Fourth of July and Labor Day.
