More than a hundred coal miners who lost their jobs with Blackjewel LLC in Campbell County, returned to work yesterday with their new employer, Eagle Specialty Materials.

 

That’s good news and State Representative Cyrus Western is hopeful that the legislature’s select committee on coal mining bankruptcies will find a solution to the huge problem of property taxes left unpaid by bankrupt energy companies…

 

 

One of the proposals would be to “shorten” the pay schedule with quarterly installments rather than a larger sum 18 months after the property is assessed.

 

According to Western, back taxes owed by bankrupt coal companies total nearly $60 million throughout the state of Wyoming.
