House bill 118 that allows the Wyoming Water Development Commission to proceed in an effort to purchase water rights from Sasol Synfuels will now be debated by the full House of Representatives next week.
The legislation passed through the Agriculture Committee last Thursday with a unanimous vote.
Obtaining the water rights along with other assets at Lake DeSmet and Healy Reservoir is crucial to any hope of constructing the proposed Bull Creek Reservoir in the future.
The bill if passed only allows for the negotiation of such a purchase with the legislature and the Governor having final approval of the transaction with Sasol Synfuels.
