October 2, 1954 – March 19, 2019
Thomas N. Nelson Jr, 64, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Tom was born on October 2, 1954 to Tom Nelson Sr. and Vivian “Pat” Nelson in Sheridan Wyoming. Tom graduated from Sheridan High School in 1972 and soon after became the youngest ever patrolman with the Sheridan Police Department. He proudly worked his way up to Detective Sergeant. In 1993 Tom opened Nelson Electronics, which he owned and operated for over 15 years. Tom and Kim had two daughters, Kristy and Amy. He loved being a dad. Following in his father‘s footsteps, Tom was an avid sportsman all of his life. From an early age he enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Bighorn Mountains with his dad, and later in life with his family. He was so proud to take his grandson on his first elk hunt. Tom had a great love for German shepherds, his High School football days, the Denver Broncos and his time with the 7th Calvary Drum and Bugle Corps. Some of Tom’s fondest memories were all of the times spent on the mountain with family and friends, traveling adventures, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Tom is survived by his daughters, Kristy (Nathan) Pierson of Sheridan and Amy Nelson of Broomfield, Colorado, Grandchildren Brecken and Bristol Pierson of Sheridan, sister Judith Ball of Franklin, Wisconsin, brother Robert Nelson of Morgan Hill, California, partner Sandy Ronne of Sheridan, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the First Baptist Church. A light reception will follow.
