Thomas D. Godwin, 71, of Sheridan passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at his home. He was born in Sheridan, WY on February 11, 1947 to Weldon and Helen (Copple) Godwin.

Tom graduated from Sheridan High School in 1965. He later went on to attend Parks School of Business in Denver. Soon after he moved back to Sheridan and worked for Auto Electric for over 20 years. He left Auto Electric to fulfill his dream of being an entrepreneur which he did by operating a DuPont paint store for 10 years. Before his retirement in 2009 he worked for various auto part stores, most recently NAPA. Following his retirement he and Susie moved to Georgia where he lived for four years before returning home to Sheridan.

Tom was an avid Harley motorcyclist, hunter and fisherman. His true passions were riding his Harley and spending time in the Big Horns. He enjoyed charity bike runs and raising money for various causes. He was a regular at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally where he enjoyed people-watching and spending time with his friends and other motorcycle enthusiasts. When he wasn’t on his Harley, he could be found navigating the mountain roads of the Big Horns with his best friend, and brother, JR (Weldon). Together they would introduce others to the mountains, laughing and telling stories. He loved being in the fresh air, spotting wildlife and enjoying the sights.  He would spend hours sitting on his favorite rock trout fishing.

Tom will be remembered as a free spirit with an unashamed laugh. He was the guy that had a nick-name for every one and the guy you called first when you needed help. Whether you had car or bike trouble, needed a paint job, or needed a ride, he was there.

Tom is survived by his children, David (Melissa) Godwin, Rice, MN; Heidi (John) Esquibel, Riverton, WY; Daniel (Amy) Godwin, Sheridan; Corey Godwin, Sandy Hook, KY. Brother, Weldon “JR” Godwin, Sheridan; Ex-wife Susie Godwin, Bainbridge, GA, seven grandchildren and several aunts, nieces & nephews. Tom is preceded in death by his parents and infant brother Rodney.

A Celebration of Life for Tom will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating.
