A renovation project for the Sheridan Fire Station was discussed at this week’s City Council study session. The Sheridan Fire Station on South Scott Street was built in 1981 and the building underwent a major renovation in 2001 that added additional bays and the administration building. In an effort to create a more safer working environment, a vehicle exhaust removal system was installed in February 2020. City Engineer Thomas Morneau said since 2018, the Fire Department has implemented an ongoing cancer risk reduction project and to keep in line with best practices for preventing firefighter cancer, a renovation project is being proposed that would create a proper decontamination area for the firefighters.
