SHERIDAN, WY— Dry grass and strong winds prompted several fire departments in Sheridan County to respond to a grass fire near Parkman on Sunday afternoon.
The fire started when a rancher’s controlled burn crossed escaped after a sudden change in wind direction. The fire, burning in brush and heavy grass burned a total of aproxamately 170 acres.
Firefighters from the Ranchester Fire Department, Dayton Fire, Goose Valley Fire Department, Big Horn County (Montana) Fire Department, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs all responded to the incident.
