Outdoor enthusiasts who want to explore the backcountry this winter will have an opportunity to learn how to best protect themselves from the dangers of avalanches in a free 2-day seminar put on by the Sheridan Community Land Trust. The seminar will be January 18th with a field portion on the 19th.
The seminar will take place at the Sheridan County Extension Office, and will include an outdoor learning opportunity the following day at Antelope Butte Mountain Recreation Area. Instructors from the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center will teach the seminar.
The class is free and there are no prerequisites required. All ages are welcome and attendees should be prepared to go outside for the field portion. The class asks that you bring avalanche gear (beacon, probe, & shovel) if you own it or that you try and borrow.
Space in the seminar is limited, so SCLT is asking that you RSVP by calling 307-673-4702.
