Rosemary E. Brouwer, 97, of Sheridan, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Sheridan Manor. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 2121 Colonial Dr., in Sheridan, with Pastor Doug Melius officiating.  A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.  Private interment will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Big Horn, WY.

She was born May 28, 1919 in Omaha, Nebraska to Calvin and Kate (Field) Emmett.  Rosemary graduated from North High School in Omaha and the University of Nebraska with a B.A. degree in 1940.  She also, attended the University of Chicago for further studies in 1942.

Rosemary married Jacob Brouwer on April 3, 1943 in Chicago, IL.  She worked at the Salvation Army in Chicago as a Social Worker and for the American Red Cross in Omaha.  The couple moved to Sheridan in 1950 when Jacob was employed at the V.A. Hospital.  While living in Sheridan, Rosemary worked for the Department of Family Services and Public Assistance for Sheridan County from 1961 to 1965.  From 1968 to 1979, she worked as a Children’s Services Specialist.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder. She was involved in Presbyterian Women, Town and Country Homemakers, and Y.M.C.A. aerobics.  Rosemary thoroughly enjoyed Bible study, teaching Sunday school, the Senior Center, reading, and concerts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob in 1998; her parents in 1955 and 1974; and her brother, Eugene R. Emmett in 1990.  Rosemary is survived by her three daughters, Kathryn Rode of Seattle, WA, Jacqueline (Brian) McMahan of Sheridan, WY, and Rachel Gachpazha of Reston, VA; and her son, Rolf Brouwer of Sebastopol, CA; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
