SHERIDAN, WY— The third annual Hoedown and Farm-to-Table Fundraiser for Rooted in Wyoming will be held at the beautiful Lazy JA Ranch, located at 501 US HWY 14, on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 12-5 p.m.

Rooted in Wyoming partners with community organizations and schools to facilitate outreach programs and cultivate educational gardens. They envision a future where everyone in our state has access to fresh local foods and is also motivated to grow their own!

Since Rooted in Wyoming came together in January of 2016 their dedicated staff, board and volunteers, have contributed over 7,000 hours of volunteer work, established enduring partnerships, organized community efforts and have proudly brought seven gardens into production. Meanwhile, Rooted in Wyoming has also provided planting supplies, tools, grow towers and educational opportunities to various classrooms and participated in many community activities.

“We know that gardens help children become better environmental stewards while developing important skills such as patience, cooperation, teamwork, pride and volunteerism,” said Rooted in Wyoming Executive Director Bonnie Gregory. “By being involved in school gardens, children gain connections to science, health and nutrition. But gardens also connect to English, math, art, social studies, cuisine and history. Gardens provide students with a sense of ownership of their school and the greater community. We have some amazing garden projects in place and are excited for the future.”

The fun-filled day includes a delicious seasonal menu made with as many regional ingredients as can be sourced from school and community gardens/local producers and meat that is Sheridan County 4-H/FFA raised…prepared with love by Chef Antonia & Brian Miller of Bonafide Foods and Rooted in Wyoming Board/Hoe Down Committee. Also enjoy live and silent auctions, toe-tapping live music, a “Farm to Oven Baking Contest” and many other family-friendly activities.
