Richard “RP” Hlousek, 74, of Sheridan, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.

RP was born on October 29, 1942 to Emil and Catherine (Noonan) Hlousek. He married Jeri Rasmussen Blankenburg on October 31, 1992 in Miami, Florida. RP graduated from Sheridan High School in 1960 and spent a year at Carroll College. He worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for forty-two years ending his career as Chief Clerk.

RP’s pleasures in life were simple. He was quick-witted and enjoyed a good joke with the best of them. He enjoyed time with friends and family and each event would generally resort in a great story to tell later. 

RP was proud to be a long-term active member of the community. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight (57 years)His , Sheridan Athletic Association (36 years), Sheridan High School Bronc Chain Gang (47 years), Sheridan Elks Lodge # 520 (lifetime member), Big Horn Mountain Eagles 4169, and American Legion. RP was the founder of the Holy Name Athletic Association Annual Banquet and was an integral part of the event for 35 years. He and his son, Mike, were co-owners of Catering by RP and provided pleasurable food for all who attended the events.

RP was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson, Chaz Ready. He is survived by his wife, Jeri, children Gerald Hlousek of Austin, TX, Mike (Janet Hull) Hlousek of Atkins, TX, Jon Hlousek of Phoenix, AZ, step son Don (Wendy) Blankenburg of Los Angeles, CA, step daughter Nyna (Jack) Cummings of Houston, TX, and four grandchildren, Taylor (Kolton) Brinkerhoff, Wyatt Cummings, Madison Cummings, Trace Cummings.

A visitation will be held at 6:00 with a Rosary at 7:00 on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Kane Funeral Home.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Holy Name Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Sheridan Elks Memorial Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Sheridan Elks Lodge. Please join us to continue the celebration of the life of RP.
