Paul T. Morey
June 24, 1937-June 2, 2018

Paul, a resident of Sheridan, Wyoming, was born in 1937 at General Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. to parents Stephen A. and Susie L. Morey. They married after WWI when his father returned from serving in France in the United States Army. They began their life together as sharecroppers. Paul was the fifth of six children.
In Kansas City, Paul attended Hale H. Cook elementary school and Southwest High. He transferred to Raytown High and shortly thereafter after entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1954 (which he credited with instilling discipline and a deep love of his country). He attended Kansas State University, Santa Monica City College, Los Angeles City College and California State University at Los Angeles.
Paul worked for various companies in the early days of computing as it transitioned from punched cards to vacuum tubes to transistors to circuit boards. His experience began in 1957 in the insurance industry in Kansas City. While in California in the summer of 1958 he met the love of his life, Jan. Paul returned to Southern California and, while attending college, he was employed by System Development Corporation, served as Information Systems Manager for U.S. Borax and Chemical, Computer Programming Specialist at Marquardt Corporation and Director of Administration at Lightcraft of California.
In 1969, Paul was employed as a manager by Arthur Andersen & Co. in the Administrative Services Division. This was the forerunner to Andersen Consulting and, now, Accenture, a NYSE listed company. Paul was elected to the partnership of the Firm in 1974. Over the years he assisted numerous clients in achieving their business objectives through strategic planning, information management and organization development. He was valued for his integrity and directness, his analytical skills and wonderful intuitive instincts as well as his respect for and assistance to Firm personnel. He traveled extensively to meet client needs, managing projects of various sizes and degrees of complexity. Within the firm he had various responsibilities, serving on the energy services board, the software board, managing director of the Swedish practice and opening a new practice in Finland. He lent his experience to clients from Argentina to Canada, from Europe to Southeast Asia. He retired in 1991.
The best of it all was his wonderful wife Jan (nee Robinow) and their two children, Susan (’61) and Scott (’65). They provided a loving home and, so to speak, a stable base. Paul was absent on business frequently. He was able to be home most weekends but was often out of town from Sunday evening to Friday evening for sustained periods. Jan “mothered and fathered” the children when Paul was absent and she did a fantastic job. Susan now has her own company in San Diego and Scott is a former Ernst & Young Partner and now has his own business. The entire family was devastated when Jan passed in February of 2000, falling to breast cancer after seven years of treatment.

Paul is survived by his remaining brother, Bob (’40), sisters in law, Maxine Morey, Pat Robinow, and Barbara and Charles McLaughlin, daughter Susan Meyers-Pyke and son Scott and their spouses, Rich and Kristin respectively, and eight grandchildren: Jason Meyers, Kailey Morey, Justin Pyke, Alex Meyers, Marissa Morey, Hunter Pyke, Shane Morey and Isabelle Morey. Other survivors are nephews and nieces and their spouses: Gail and Britt Clement, Michelle and Richard Cesena, Stephanie and Josh Gonzales, Peter Strickhouser, Kathie and Brad Thomas, Mike and Sharon Morey, Pam and Jeff Spencer, Bridget and Scott Romney, Rebecca Morey, Jeff Morey, Amy and Lawrence Jefferson, Brian Robinow, Stephen Robinow, Kathy and Joel Cerda, Jeff and Molly Robinow and Adam Robinow (apologies to anyone missed).
After Jan passed Paul was blessed with a very dear and close friend, Janet Lahodny, who was also widowed. Both loved to play golf. They travelled together and enjoyed a river barge trip in France, golf in Banff, trips to Washington, DC, New York and Boston, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Pinehurst NC, California, Oregon, the Masters, etc. She was very special to Paul. And a way better golfer to boot.
Jan and Paul both elected to be cremated and Paul’s remains will be cast at sea off the coast of southern California.

Any and all Contributions should be sent to the organization MOM (http://sandiegomom.org) which benefits the families of our service men and women who are in need.
