The concept of growing a small orchard for community use on city property was nixed by the Buffalo City Council on Tuesday evening.

Kelly Norris and DJ Fuente, representing the Bread of Life Food Pantry returned for the second meeting in row to once again seek city approval for a small orchard.

Managing the growth of the trees appeared to be a concern as well as creating an obligation of care and responsibility for future council was also an expressed concern.  Here’s Council member Scott Madsen…

Norris had hoped to persuade the council with an assurance that the volunteers of the pantry would provide the care and maintenance of the orchard, from planting to harvest and beyond.
