SHERIDAN, WY — A new scam which targets businesses with a fake invoice has been reportedly circulating around Sheridan. According to the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce, several area businesses have reported recieving the fake invoice from “County Connection Marketing” in Hurst, Texas for advertising in the “Sheridan County Business Directory,” which is a made-up entity.
Jodi Hartley, Communications Director for the Chamber, explained more about the scam.
The Chamber of Commerce issued an alert to all of its members on Tuesday warning them about the scam. The Sheridan Police Department was also notified and is urging business owners to not pay the invoice or provide the company with any information.
