Margarete Presnell, 83 year old Buffalo resident who passed away early Friday morning at the Amie Holt Care Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28th at 10:00 a.m. from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Mark Wilson officiating.  A private family interment will follow the funeral.  

Margarete Berta Presnell was born on April 1, 1933 in Bad Cannstatt, Germany to Kurt and Berta Hellenschmidt.  She attended school in Germany and later moved to America where she completed one year of college at Fayetteville Community College in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  She was married to Richard Layer in Stuttgart where they made their home.  They were divorced in 1962 and in 1963 Margarete met Robert Presnell when he was a hospital patient in an Army Hospital in Germany.  She later moved to the U.S. where she and Robert were married in 1965 and made their home in Fayetteville, North Carolina for sixteen years. While in Fayetteville she was a waitress and also worked at a 7-11.  In 1979 they moved to Mamers, North Carolina where they lived for seven years before moving to Vass North Carolina and lived for nine years.  In 1995 they moved to Buffalo, Wyoming.  Mr. Presnell passed away in March of 2000 and Margarete continued living in Buffalo until her death.

She was a past member of the new Life Assembly Church and enjoyed painting, cross stitch, gardening and spending time with her family.  At the time of her death she had completed a book, which was from her mother’s diary in Germany.  The book was in its final editing process and being readied for publishing.

She is survived by two daughters, Anne-Margarete Feil and her companion Edgar of Sheridan and Iris Jones and her husband Winky of Vass, North Carolina; five brothers, Hansfrider, Michael, and Jorg Hellenschmidt, all of Stuttgart, Germany and Ekkehard and Gerhard Hellenschmidt both of the Black Forest Region of Germany; one sister Rosemarie Hellenschmidt also of Stuttgart; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
