A celebration of the life of Margaret Gilbert, 92 year old Buffalo resident, who passed away Thursday morning at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be held by her family later this summer.  Donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Bread of Life Food Pantry in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Margaret Jesse Gilbert was born on Christmas Day, 1926 in Armento, Wyoming to Alex and Alice Johnstone.  She grew up on Willow Greek twenty-six miles southwest of Kaycee.  She attended elementary school on Willow Creek and went to Natrona County High School where she graduated with the class of 1945.  She was married to Richard “Joe” Taylor and they made their home in Kaycee.  Following a divorce she was married to Kenneth Gilbert on April 4, 1952 in Casper Wyoming.  Kenneth worked for the U.S. Forest Service and they lived in Kaycee for a short time before moving to Lander and were later transferred to Cody.  Ken retired from the Forest Service and they moved to Riverton where Margaret was a homemaker.  Ken passed away in 1987 and Margaret continued living in Riverton.  In 2013 she moved to Buffalo to be near family and she lived in Buffalo until her death.  She had been a resident of Amie Holt for one year.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Lander and active in the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. She was passionate about taking her children to church and loved embroidery and making gifts for family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Gilbert of Scottsdale, Arizona and Ed Taylor of Buffalo; one daughter Beverly Taylor of Buffalo; one step-son Fred Gilbert of Utah; two brothers, Alex “Junior” Johnstone and his wife Gladys of Tensleep, Wyoming and William “Billy” Johnstone and his wife IIa Jean of Willow Creek; one sister Annie Day of Casper; six grandchildren ; six great-grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Pudge Kechter and Chriss Fisher.
