Lawrence “Larry” Baumgartner passed away at home on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 surrounded by family.  He was born March 23, 1936 to Henry and Agnes (Smith) in Buffalo.

Larry spent his time growing up on the family ranch in Arvada with his twin brothers, Jim and Tim.  He went to grade school by Arvada and graduated from Sheridan High School.

Larry married Judith (Ellenwood) November 10, 1956 at the Catholic Church in Buffalo.  Larry and Judy had four rambunctious boys, Tony, Steve, Bill and Mark.

He worked on ranches until the late 1960’s, when he gave up the ranching life, and bought a home in Sheridan.  Larry drove a concrete truck and propane truck until he started working on the startup of East Decker Coal, where he worked until his retirement.

After retiring, Larry enjoyed spending time with Judy camping, having breakfast with dear friends, Tom and Annette, and Taco Tuesday’s at the Elks.  He loved wood working and had his shop set up with all the tools he needed to keep him busy for hours.

Larry was a lifetime member of the Elks and will be buried in the Elks Cemetery at a later date.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.  Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy; sons, Tony (Donna), Steve (Tracey), Bill (Liz), and Mark (Vickie) all of Sheridan; grandchildren, Toni (Chad) Bates, Kayla (Josh) Morris, Billie (Jason) Nelson, all of Sheridan, Amy (Adam) Rutt of Billings, Larry (Crystal) Baumgartner of Sheridan, Brittney Baumgartner of Sheridan, Janna (Gabe) Mahoney and Drew Baumgartner of Sheridan, McKinley Baumgartner of Sheridan, and Shelby Baumgartner  of Laramie; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Alexis Bates, Mason, Spencer, Atlee and Jordan Morris, Emma, Royce, and Charli Nelson, Beau Baumgartner, Piper Baumgartner, and Brylee and Jaxten Mahoney all of Sheridan.

Per Larry’s wishes no services are planned.  Online condolences may be written at www.championfh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Champion Funeral Home.
