Private family interment for Kathy Pettit, 71 year old Buffalo woman who passed away Saturday afternoon in Buffalo at the home of her granddaughter, surrounded by her family, will be held in Wilsonville, Nebraska at a later date. Donations in Kathy’s memory may be made to the Susie Bowling Lawrence Hospice in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Kathleen Ann Pettit was born on August 18, 1946 in McCook, Nebraska to Allen and Doris Kasson. She grew up and went to school in Beaver Valley and Wilsonville, Nebraska area where she was great pals with her two cousins Larry Kasson and Fran Case and attended Beaver Valley High School. After high school she married and started a family. She worked as a CNA, drove truck and worked as a school cook in Riverton, Wyoming. She was married to Michael Pettit on June 3, 1978 in Minden, Nebraska and they made their home in Roseland, Nebraska. In the early 1980’s they moved Riverton, Wyoming where Kathy was a cook for the Riverton School District. Mr. Pettit passed away in 2007 and she continued living in Riverton until October of 2017 when she moved to Buffalo to be near family. Kathy enjoyed fishing but her passion was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
She is survived by one son Merlin “Jerry” Berry and his wife Teri of Culbertson, Nebraska; one daughter Sharla Rodriguez and her husband Tony of Buffalo; two step-sons Mark Pettit of Cheyenne and David Pettit and his wife Jimmie Sue of Arkansas; one step daughter Dayna Conow of Lincoln, Nebraska; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one grandson, Kris Graham.
