The “drug take back” event that took place at Shopko on Saturday took in a little more than 10 pounds of unused, expired prescription drugs.

The program is administered by the Prevention Management Organization of Wyoming, the Johnson County Public Health and local law enforcement.

Area residents can continue to dispose of unused or expired drugs on a daily basis, simply by using a drop box located in the lobby of the Johnson County Justice Center.

One major benefit of the disposal, according to PMO’s Bill Hawley, is the fact that some of those prescription drugs can be repackaged in Cheyenne and returned to Johnson County to assist those families who struggle with the high cost of medications…

Dropping medications off at the law enforcement center is anonymous with no questions asked and no paperwork is required.
