Cold temperatures and flu season are upon us.

While we can’t do much to ward of the coming winter weather, we can get flu vaccinations to ward of the symptoms of the virus.

Today at the Veterans Home of Wyoming and tomorrow at the Johnson County Healthcare Center, eligible employees, spouses, retirees, and dependents can receive flu vaccinations along with blood chemistry panels from 7 to 10am.

The Johnson County Public Health will be hosting an Emergency Preparedness Exercise in conjunction with an all-day Flu Clinic on Wednesday.

The exercise is expected to prepare the staff for a potential pandemic influenza.

Public Health has set a goal of 200 flu shots throughout the day and is offering a chance to win a $100 gift card as an incentive for local citizens to get their flu shot early.

The department will be open 8am to 5pm on Wednesday.
