A large number of local businesses in support of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce asked the Johnson County Commission to rescind its reduction in 1% funds to the non-profit organization on Tuesday evening.

The Chamber’s request for funding was in the amount of $25,000 to the county and a like amount from the City of Buffalo.

The Commission had reduced the amount to just $10,000 and Chamber President Mark Bentley explained why the full amount was needed…

One of the supporters who spoke in support of the Chamber was Luke Todd with Sports Lure…

State Representative Mike Madden provided a different perspective on the importance of funding the seasonal information center…

Commissioner Bob Perry, clearly contentious in his questioning of Bentley, offered a motion to restore $7,500 in 1% funds providing the city agreed to match the amount.

The motion was passed and the City Council will consider the Chamber’s request at its meeting on June 6th.
