Marie Adsit, 95, passed away May 9, 2019 in Sheridan, WY. She was born February 4, 1924 in Sundance, Wyoming to Manuel and Maria Sipe and was the oldest of six children. In 1946, she married Fred H. Adsit and they had three children: Douglas, Bruce and Kimberle. Fred and Marie delighted in their three children, seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Katie, Brandon Jon, Sheila, Anna, Brandi, Brandon Michael, and many great-grandchildren. Marie’s proudest accomplishment was taking care of her own children and many others in the Big Horn community. Despite losing her eyesight to retinitis pigmentosa, Marie never lost her generous spirit and her desire to help others. She loved her wide circle of friends, playing cards, country music, the National Enquirer, romance novels (she had wanted to be a writer), and baking cinnamon rolls, among other delicious homemade treats. Her Sunday dinners were legendary and everyone was welcome at her table. Marie also crocheted countless numbers of afghans that are now treasured heirlooms, wrapping others in her love far and wide. After Fred’s passing in 2000, she lived on her own, with help from her daughter Kim. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her husband. She will be cremated and buried at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Big Horn, Wy next to Fred. At her request there will be no service; in her memory, have a Sunday dinner with your loved ones. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Hub on Smith.
