Gene Abbott, 75, of Sheridan, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
Gene was born January 28, 1943 in Colorado Springs, CO, the eldest of 5 children, to Charles and Madoline Abbott. His family moved many times while he was growing up. They settled in Lance Creek, WY, when he was in 7th grade. He graduated from Niobrara High School in 1961.
After graduation, Gene moved to Upton, WY where he met his wife, Kay Abbott. They married on July 2nd, 1962, in Newcastle, WY. They were blessed with 2 lovely daughters, Jill Marie in 1965 and Jeannie Lee in 1969.
After moving numerous times with his job, they came to Sheridan in 1972, and decided to stay. His last job was a truck driver for Dixon Brothers.
He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, daughters Jill (Dale) Lee of Houston, TX and Jeannie (Keith) Herrigel of Sheridan, WY, grandchildren, Jarod Lee of Midland, TX, Andelien and Cassidy Lee of Houston, TX, Sydney Herrigel of Sheridan, WY, Jocelyn Swamy of Sheridan, WY, Bryce Lee of Midland, TX, brother, Larry Abbott of Custer, SD, sisters, Sharon Robidoux, Lillian Ames of Casper, WY, and numerous nieces and nephews.
At his request there will be no service. His ashes will be inurned at the Fairview Cemetery near Oral, SD.
