Esther Marie Pierce, 82, of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She was born August 12, 1935 in Lodge Grass, Montana to Dave and Millie (Schwab) Felde.
Esther married Basil J. Pierce on July 25, 1953. She worked in Sheridan for many years as a bookkeeper for various businesses prior to moving to Dayton in 1974. Esther purchased the Stockman Bar and Lounge and the Dew Drop Inn. She enjoyed playing cribbage, reading, gardening and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Basil J. Pierce, and three sisters and four brothers. Esther is survived by her daughters, Roxanne Davis, Debbie Groshart and her husband Mark, Pam Christensen and her husband Mike, and Brenda (Dellit) LaPlante and her husband Keith; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and brothers, Dan, Albert, and Bob.
A visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Champion Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2018 at Champion Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow in the Elks Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Dayton Community Hall following the interment.
