Elizabeth Etchemendy, 79, of Sheridan, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, at Willow Creek Elder Care.
Elizabeth was born on September 9, 1938, to Paul and Nellie (Briggs) Cann in Sheridan, WY. Elizabeth grew up in Arvada, WY and graduated from Arvada High School. On March 15, 1957, in Rapid City, SD, she married Glen Etchemendy of Clearmont, WY. Together they had three children.
Elizabeth was top salesperson for Tupperware for several years, earning her the priviledge of driving a company car. She worked as checker at IGA for years. She loved to visit and encourage people with a compliment and a kiss on the cheek, and then with a laugh, she would tell them that she had better kiss them on the other cheek, so they wouldn’t be lopsided. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing and play the piano or her accordion. She had rhythm in her bones and could cut a jig with the best of them. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, journaling, praying and reading her Bible. Every day she prayed for every family member by name. Her ability to remember names and dates was simply amazing. She was always grateful for her church family and missed attending services regularly the last few years. She delighted in sharing the joy of knowing Jesus Christ as her Savior with anyone she felt might need hope or help in their journey.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glen Etchemendy, her daughter D’Lynn Etchemendy, son Ron Etchemendy, brothers Charles Donnafield, Jack Donnafield, Tom Donnafield, Bill Donnafield, sisters Lenora Hunt, Marie Jones, Clarissa Schoenfeld. She is survived by her son Steven Etchemendy, long time friend Marvin Bowkett, brother Urbin Donnafield, all of Sheridan, WY, sister Anna (Donald) Esmond of NC, grandchildren Shay (Jeff) Rosenlund, Garon (Stacy) Etchemendy, Nikki Forni, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
