Donald Theron Griffin Sr., 90, of Story WY, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at his residence.  Donald was born in Clearwater, Florida, April 13, 1927 to Bert Theron and Corrie (Ham) Griffin.  He Graduated from the University of Florida in 1950, and later married Esther MacLeod on March 13, 1954.  Through the years, their union was blessed with three children, Dixie, Dan and Don.

Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 serving during World War II and he always held a special place in his heart for the U.S. Military and the sacrifices they make.  He belonged to the Kiwanis Club of Atlanta, GA for over 30 years. Through the Kiwanis Club he volunteered to work with the U.S.O. in greeting troops as they passed through the Atlanta Airport, a service which he never tired of, and enjoyed immensely.

Don’s career began in 1950 when he went to work for General Dynamics in San Diego, CA after which he was transferred to Quincy, MA.  They went back to Los Angeles, CA in 1971 when he went to work for Litton Industries.  He was then transferred to Pascagoula, MS until 1974 when Don went to work for Stone and Webster in Boston, MA.  While in Boston, Don began working for United Engineers in 1977.  Then in 1980 he and Esther moved to Atlanta, GA, where he worked for EBASCO Services.  He changed companies in 1983 when he went to work for Oglethorpe Power Corp. also in Atlanta, GA.  In 1996, while still living in Atlanta he retired, after having worked for 46 years.

Retirement made it nice for Don and Esther to spend their winters in Atlanta GA, and enjoy summers in Story, WY.   He loved to spend time watching and feeding the deer in Story.  Being an avid reader, he enjoyed Biographies and World War II history.

Don is survived by Esther, his wife of 63 years; his daughter, Dixie (Mike) Dean and sons, Dan (Ginny) Griffin and Don (Joan) Griffin Jr.; grandchildren: Angela Griffin – Fauber, Michael Dean, Jordan Ogden, Charlotte Ellis, James and Maks Griffin; great grandchildren: Chanda Griffin, Houston Fauber, Linnea Ellis, June and Adeline Dean, and Aaron, Hanna and Parker Griffin.
