Dave Rubottom, 87 year old lifetime Buffalo resident passed away Friday afternoon at the Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana. âFuneral services will be held Saturday, January 28th at 2:00 p.m. from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Dave’s nephew Brian Jarvis officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 27th from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral.
David Verne Rubottom was born on February 4, 1929 in Buffalo, Wyoming to Vern and Betty Rubottom. He grew up and went to school in Buffalo and graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1947. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a flight mechanic on numerous Aircraft Carriers. He received an honorable discharge in 1951 and returned to Buffalo.
He was married on December 22, 1952 in Buffalo to Shirley Warnock and they made their home in Buffalo. Dave worked for Reinbold Electric for one year and then for Duney’s Conoco. He took a job with the Wyoming State Highway Department in 1958 where he worked as a Soils Engineer for 29 years. He retired from the highway department in 1986 and continued living in Buffalo.
Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, spending time in the mountains; bird watching, and collecting golf balls. His passion was spending time with his family and was an avid supporter of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. His last family trip was to Wisconsin to watch his grandsons play Junior hockey for the Dells Ducks.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Rubottom of Buffalo; one son Curtis Rubottom and his wife Darla of Buffalo; one daughter, Jan Hefner and her husband Don of Billings, Montana; nine grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son.
