Christine Blankenfeld, 67, of Sheridan, Wyoming, passed away, Sunday, July, 30, 2017, suddenly at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital while being comforted by her loving husband, Robert Blankenfeld.
Chris was born to Chris Schwabauer and Albena Kay (Roswadovski) Schwabauer of Acme, WY, on August 7, 1949 at what was then known as the Reynolds Home in Sheridan. She spent her early years in Acme happily playing in and on the Tongue River ice as well as hunting rabbits around the “cave holes” with her brother, Stan. She later moved with her parents to Sheridan where she attended Middle and High School. She married David Teague and left the Sheridan area.
Chris later became the Manager of the VFW Club in Northglenn, CO for eleven years and later moved on and became certified in the removal of asbestos. After a few years she became a Certified Instructor of asbestos removal and taught classes for the certification of new workers and recertification of workers as well as local and State Inspectors at Colorado State University. In 2013, after being gone for nearly 50 years, Chris moved back to Sheridan with her husband, Robert Blankenfeld and lived on East Loucks Street until her death.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents and late husband, David Teague. She is survived by her husband, Robert, her two daughters, Michelle and Teresa Teague, two granddaughters and two great-grandsons and her four brothers, Stan, Tom, Bill and Ron Schwabauer who all live in the area.
Chris was a Life Member of the VFW and a strong supporter of Relay for Life as she was one of the few persons who survived small cell lung cancer from which she was cancer free for nine years. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting afghans for gifts, and especially the visits of her two great-grandsons each summer. There are no services planned at this time. Any memorials should be made in her name as gifts to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, PO Box K, Sheridan, WY 82801 in her name.
